You can spend a fortune on facial scrubs at the store. Rather than breaking the bank, give this easy all natural DIY Facre Scrub a go. The recipe is similar to our Deluxe Exfoliation Body Scrub but gentler to the face because sea salt is replaced with sugar. After using it your face is bound to be feeling sweet and supple.

Choose the best essential oil blends for your skin type below.

Recipe 

8-ounce glass pot
1/2 cup raw olive oil
1 cup raw, organic sugar

Essential Oils To Use

For normal skin: 5 drops each of Lavender, Frankincense and Ylang Ylang

For oily skin: 5 drops each of Carrot Seed Oil, Frankincense, and Tea Tree essential oils

For dry and mature skin: 5 drops each of Patchouli, Frankincense and Geranium essential oils

Directions

Mix sugar and olive oil with a metal spoon into a large glass bowl or directly in the glass pot. Add the essential oils combination based on your skin type. Store in a cool, dark place. To use, scoop out a small amount of the scrub and massage to the face in a circular motion. Recommended usage is once a week.

Lavender Essential Oil:

Aroma: Sweet, floral, herbaceous, light fresh and soft aroma

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, chamomile, clary sage, clove, cypress, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, grapefruit, juniper, lemon, lemongrass, mandarin, marjoram, oakmoss, palmarosa, patchouli, peppermint, pine, ravensara, rose, rosemary, tea tree, thyme, vetiver, pine, and nutmeg.

Properties: Calming, sleep-inducing, antiseptic, analgesic, disinfectant, anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsant, anti-rheumatic, anti-spasmodic, antifungal, antiviral, bactericide, carminative, cholagogue, cicatrisant, cordial, cytophylactic, decongestant, deodorant, diuretic, emmenagogue, hypotensive, nervine, rubefacient, sedative, sudorific and vulnerary.

Frankincense Essential Oil:

Aroma: Earthy, a slightly citrus-fruity/sweet, woody, spicy, haunting smell, a small hint camphoric, but very pleasant.

Pairs Well With: Citrus oils like bergamot, grapefruit, lime, lemon, neroli and wild orange. Piney and earthy scents such as cypress, myrrh palmarosa, pine, patchouli, sandalwood, and vetiver. Floral scents such as lavender, geranium, rose, ylang ylang, and clary sage. Spice scents such as black pepper, camphor, and cinnamon.

Properties: Antiseptic, astringent, carminative, cicatrizant, cytophylactic, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, sedative, tonic, uterine, and vulnerary.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil:

Aroma: Exotic, sweet smell, floral and rich.

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, clove, eucalyptus lemon, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, lemon, litsea cubeba, mandarin, neroli, opopanax, orange, palmarosa, patchouli, peru balsam, petitgrain, rose, rosewood, sandalwood, tuberose and vetiver

Properties: Antidepressant, antiseborrhoeic, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, hypotensive, nervine and sedative.

Carrot Seed Essential Oil:

Aroma: Dry, slightly sweet, and earthy aroma.

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, juniper, lavender, lemon, lime, cedarwood, cinnamon, citrus oils, geranium and all spice oils.

Properties: Antiseptic, disinfectant, detoxifying, antioxidant, carminative, depurative, diuretic, emmenagogue, stimulant, cytophylactic, and a tonic.
