Recipe

Masterblend:

8 drops Marjoram essential oil
8 drops Geranium essential oil
8 drops Lavender essential oil
3 drops Cedarwood essential oil
1 drop Frankincense essential oil
2 drops Eucalyptus essential oil

Directions

1. Topical

In a 10 ml roll-on bottle, add required number drops. Top with fractionated coconut oil or any carrier oil of your choice. Shake well to mix.

2. Diffuse

Add 3 to 5 drops of the Master Blend per 100ml water in your diffuser.


Essential Oil Properties In This Recipe

Marjoram Essential Oil:

Aroma: Bright, sweet, balsamic, warm, slightly spicy smell.

Pairs Well With: Basil, bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, chamomile, cypress, eucalyptus, eucalyptus lemon, fennel, juniper, lavender, lemon, orange, peppermint, pine, rosemary, tea tree and thyme.

Properties: Analgesic, anti-spasmodic, anaphrodisiac, antiseptic, antiviral, bactericidal, carminative, cephalic, cordial, diaphoretic, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, fungicidal, hypotensive, laxative, nervine, sedative, stomachic, vasodilator and vulnerary.

Geranium Essential Oil:

Aroma: Heavy, sweet and floral

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, clove, cypress, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, juniper, lemon, mandarin, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, peppermint, rose, rosemary, sandalwood and ylang ylang

Properties: Astringent, hemostatic, cicatrizant, cytophylactic, diuretic, deodorant, hemostatic, styptic, tonic, vermifuge, and vulnerary.

Lavender Essential Oil:

Aroma: Sweet, floral, herbaceous, light fresh and soft aroma

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, chamomile, clary sage, clove, cypress, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, grapefruit, juniper, lemon, lemongrass, mandarin, marjoram, oakmoss, palmarosa, patchouli, peppermint, pine, ravensara, rose, rosemary, tea tree, thyme, vetiver, pine, and nutmeg.

Cedarwood Essential Oil:

Aroma: Soft, balsamic, rich dry overtones, woody and “pencil-like” smell and has a faint undertone of sandalwood.

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, jasmine, juniper, lavender, neroli, palmarosa, petitgrain, rosemary, sandalwood, vetiver, and ylang ylang.

Properties: Anti-seborrhoeic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, tonic, astringent, diuretic, emenagogue, expectorant, insecticidal, sedative, and a fungicide.

Frankincense Essential Oil:

Aroma: Earthy, a slightly citrus-fruity/sweet, woody, spicy, haunting smell, a small hint camphoric, but very pleasant.

Pairs Well With: Citrus oils like bergamot, grapefruit, lime, lemon, neroli and wild orange. Piney and earthy scents such as cypress, myrrh palmarosa, pine, patchouli, sandalwood, and vetiver. Floral scents such as lavender, geranium, rose, ylang ylang, and clary sage. Spice scents such as black pepper, camphor, and cinnamon.
