Did you know that essentials oils can be effective aphrodisiacs? It’s true! Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, Vetiver and Black Pepper are used in traditional remedies to help boost libido and excitement within couples. The following blend can be added to a diffuser and it’s certain to put you in the mood.

Recipe

4 drops Bergamot essential oil
4 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
4 drops Sandalwood essential oil
3 drops Wild Orange essential oil
3 drops Rosemary essential oil
2 drops Ginger essential oil
2 drops Black Pepper essential oil

Directions

Add drops per 100ml water in the diffuser.


Essential Oil Properties In This Recipe

Bergamot Essential Oil:

Aroma: Fresh, spicy, floral, citrus, yet fruity and sweet, and is reminiscent of neroli as well as lavender oil.

Pairs Well With: Chamomile, citrus oils, coriander, cypress, geranium, helichrysum, jasmine, juniper, lavender, lemon balm, neroli, nutmeg, rose, sandalwood, vetiver, violet and ylang ylang

Properties: Analgesic, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibiotic, anti-spasmodic, stomachic, calmative, cicatrisant, deodorant, digestive, febrifuge, vermifuge and vulnerary.

Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil:

Aroma: Exotic, sweet smell, floral and rich

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, clove, eucalyptus lemon, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, lemon, litsea cubeba, mandarin, neroli, opopanax, orange, palmarosa, patchouli, peru balsam, petitgrain, rose, rosewood, sandalwood, tuberose and vetiver.

Properties: Antidepressant, antiseborrhoeic, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, hypotensive, nervine and sedative.

Sandalwood Essential Oil:

Aroma: Alluring, exotic smell, subtle, floral, soft woody aroma with resinous, balsamic undertones that are empowering.

Pairs Well With: All citrus oils, bergamot, black pepper, geranium, frankincense, jasmine, lavender, myrrh, rose, vanilla, vetiver and ylang-ylang.

Properties: Antiphlogistic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, diuretic, emollient, expectorant, sedative and tonic.

Wild Orange Essential Oil:

Aroma: Fresh, refreshing and sweet.

Pairs Well With: Cinnamon, frankincense, geranium, lavender, and all types of citrus oils.

Properties: Anti-depressant, anti-septic, antispasmodic, anti-tumor and cellular health properties.

Rosemary Essential Oil:

Aroma: Strong herbal smell, refreshing, camphor-like with a woody-balsamic undertone

Pairs Well With: Basil, black pepper, bergamot, cedarwood, cinnamon, clary sage, citronella, elemi, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, lavender, lemongrass, peppermint, ravensara, tea tree, and thyme.

Properties: Hair growth stimulant, disinfectant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, analgesic substance. analgesic, antidepressant, astringent, carminative, cephalic, cholagogue, cordial, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, hepatic, hypertensive, nervine, rubefacient, stimulant, sudorific and tonic.

Ginger Essential Oil:

Aroma: Strong smelling oil – spicy, sharp, warm and with a hint of lemon and pepper, which smells of actual ginger.

Pairs Well With: Blends well with all citrus and spicy oils such as bergamot, frankincense, neroli, rose, sandalwood and ylang-ylang.

Properties: Analgesic, antiemetic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, bactericidal, carminative, cephalic, expectorant, febrifuge, laxative, rubefacient, stimulant, stomachic, sudorific, and tonic.

Black Pepper Essential Oil:

Aroma: Dry, woody, strong and sharp spicy smelling oil and is faintly reminiscent of clove oil, yet more refined.

Pairs Well With: Cardamom, clary sage, clove, frankincense, geranium, lavender, juniper, marjoram, myrrh, orange, nutmeg, rosemary, sage, sandalwood, tea tree, vetiver and ylang ylang

Properties: Analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic, aphrodisiac, diaphoretic, digestive, diuretic, febrifuge, laxative, rubefacient and tonic (especially of the spleen).
