Frequent washing and using alcohol-based sanitizer may actually leave your hands dry. To combat dryness and keep your hands moisturized at all times try this. With the help of castile soap, your favorite essential oil blend and a few ingredients, you can have your very own moisturizing foaming hand soap.

Recipe

2 tablespoons Unscented Castile Soap
2 teaspoons Fractionated Coconut Oil
1 cup Distilled or filtered water
10 oz Foaming Pump Bottle
8 drops Lemon essential oil
8 drops Grapefruit essential oil
8 drops Geranium essential oil

Directions

Mix soap, essential oils, and fractionated coconut oil into a bottle. Gently swirl the bottle to mix together. Add water and place the pump on the bottle. Shake well to mix. Label the bottle with contents and recipe. To use, pump into palm of hands and lather well, rinse off.

 


Essential Oil Properties In This Recipe

Lemon Essential Oil:

Aroma: Sharp, fresh smell, clean, sugary citrus and slightly sour.

Pairs Well With: Benzoin, chamomile, cistus, elemi, eucalyptus, fennel, frankincense, geranium, juniper, lavender, neroli, oakmoss, rose, sandalwood and ylang ylang.

Properties: Anti-anemic, antimicrobial, anti-rheumatic, anti-sclerotic, antiseptic, bactericidal, carminative, cicatrisant, depurative, diaphoretic, diuretic, febrifuge, haemostatic, hypotensive, insecticidal, rubefacient, tonic and vermifuge.

Grapefruit Essential Oil:

Aroma: Sweet, tangy, citrus, and sharp refreshing smell.

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, black pepper, cardamom, clary sage, clove, cypress, eucalyptus, fennel, frankincense, geranium, ginger, juniper, lavender, lemon, mandarin, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, peppermint, rosemary, thyme and ylang ylang.

Properties: Antidepressant, antiseptic, aperitif, diuretic, disinfectant, lymphatic stimulant, tonic and anti-infectious.

Geranium Essential Oil:

Aroma: Heavy, sweet and floral

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, clove, cypress, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, juniper, lemon, mandarin, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, peppermint, rose, rosemary, sandalwood and ylang ylang

Properties: Astringent, hemostatic, cicatrizant, cytophylactic, diuretic, deodorant, hemostatic, styptic, tonic, vermifuge, and vulnerary.
