Bye Bye Bugs (Insect Repellent Diffuser Blend)


They are cute on stickers and drawings, however, bugs aren’t adorable when they’re crawling and biting. You can’t really avoid them sometimes, especially since they are very tiny. But don’t fret there’s an all natural way to avoid these creepy crawlers. How? This blend contains a collection of essential oils that mosquitoes and other insects dislike. Start diffusing when younger kids aren’t in the room yet.


1 drop Lemongrass essential oil
1 drop Thyme essential oil
1 drop Eucalyptus essential oil
1 drop Basil essential oil

How to use?

Add the number of essential oil drops in your diffuser, and diffuse for 20-30 minutes.

Essential Oil Properties In This Recipe

Lemongrass Essential Oil:

Aroma: Heavy, lemony, green and sweet smell.

Pairs Well With: Basil, bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, clary sage, coriander, cypress, fennel, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, marjoram, orange, palmarosa, patchouli, rosemary, tea tree, thyme, vetiver and ylang ylang.

Properties: Analgesic, antidepressant, antimicrobial, antipyretic, antiseptic, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, deodorant, diuretic, febrifuge, fungicidal, galactogogue, insecticidal, nervine, sedative, and a tonic.

Thyme Essential Oil:

Aroma: Rather sweet, yet strongly herbal smell, warm, spicy-herbaceous, and powerful.

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, lemon balm, marjoram, peru balsam, pine, rosemary and tea tree

Properties: Antispasmodic, antirheumatic, antiseptic, bactericidal, bechic, cardiac, carminative, cicatrisant, diuretic, emenagogue, expectorant, hypertensive, insecticide, stimulant, tonic, and vermifugal substance.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil:

Aroma: Aromatic, camphoraceous, clear, fresh, penetrating, sharp, strong, woody and very distinctive smell

Pairs Well With: Benzoin, cedarwood, chamomile, cypress, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, marjoram, peppermint, pine, rosemary and thyme.

Properties: Analgesic, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-neuralgic, anti-rheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, astringent, balsamic, cicatrisant, decongestant, deodorant, depurative, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, hypoglycaemic, rubefacient, stimulant, vermifuge and vulnerary.

Basil Essential Oil:

Aroma: Clear, fresh, warm, spicy, herbaceous, light, peppery and gives a sweet, green top note to blends.

Pairs Well With: Bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, fennel, ginger, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, marjoram, neroli and verbena.
