Aromatherapy practitioners suggest trying out a product to check for a reaction before using the full amount. You can easily do this by dabbing a few drops of grapefruit oil on your wrist, neck, or feet. Do not initially apply the essential oil to your face until you are sure that your body will not react to it.

Pregnant women should get the go ahead from their physician before they use an essential oil on their bodies. Your doctor is the best judge for letting you know if it is safe to use essential oils. Grapefruit oil can interact with some prescription medicines so check with your pharmacist and ask questions.

Once you have purchased grapefruit oil make sure that you read the instructions on the bottle. Do not use more than the recommended amount. Store the essential oil in cool place and keep it away from heat sources and the sun to help maintain its potency.

Look for Quality When Using Essential Oils

Stick with reliable brands when you purchase grapefruit oil. Essential oils can be found at health food stores or you can buy it online. If you look for the cheapest brand you may end up getting a watered-down product that is essentially useless. Look for product quality and purity.

Like all citrus essential oils, grapefruit blends easily with many other oils like basil, bergamot, frankincense, geranium, lavender, palma rosa, peppermint, rosemary, and ylang ylang essential oils.
